PRINCESS MONONOKE
Hayao Miyazaki (1997)

Princess Mononoke is a breathtaking tale of humanity versus nature set in a mystical, ancient Japan. After being cursed by a demon, young prince Ashitaka journeys west in search of a cure and finds himself caught in a war between the industrialized Iron Town, led by Lady Eboshi, and the forest gods defending their land.

He meets San, a fierce girl raised by wolves, who fights to protect the forest she calls home. Torn between both sides, Ashitaka seeks balance in a world grappling with progress, destruction, and coexistence. It’s a visually stunning, emotional masterpiece that explores the tension between humans and the natural world and one of my favourite Miyazaki films.
