MANCHESTER BY THE SEA
Kenneth Lonergan (2016)

Manchester by the Sea remains in my top 10 films of the last decade. I will never forget when I went to the cinemas to watch it. It finished, the credits were playing and I sat until they finished and the screen went black and a cinema employee walked in to clean up the popcorn. I had tears dried on my cheek from earlier in the film, and fresh ones in my eyes. This film is powerful, heartbreaking and a strong reminder of how hard it can be to face our past. The acting is incredible, you almost feel like you’re intruding when you watch some scenes between characters, like you’re peering into their very private lives. Longergan did beautifully on this film, it’s a must watch.
