AUGUST BLUE
Deborah Levy (2023)
I picked up this book at the Hydra Book Club, not having read any of Levy’s previous novels. I read it within 4 days. In hindsight, it’s actually a very simple story that’s quite nuanced because of the main characters emotions. You don’t really go to many places in the novel, it’s a single storyline that takes you back to memories here and there, which by the end of the book unveils Elsa’s psyche and how heavily intertwined her emotions are with her music.
This book was a pleasure to read, easy going and in my opinion, very hard to put down!
