The Reverie.

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”
- John Muir

John Muir (1838-1914) was an author and environmental philosopher, among many other things. Muir passionately believed that our mental and physical wellbeing is directly affected by our connection with the natural world and that humans are better balanced cognitively, psychologically and physiologically when we connect with nature.

In Muir’s journals he wrote that he believed humans enter a different kind of reverie when we become one with nature and explore its beauty. Our soul reveals parts of itself to us, which may have been lost otherwise or only illustrated in our dreams.

I created this series of polaroid’s to reflect this type of reverie so many of us experience when we venture out into the wild and I hope these photos inspire you to reconnect with the innate desire that is within all of us – to go back home, into ourselves, through nature.

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
- John Muir
